Legal framework

• International

In accordance to Article 41 of the United Nations Charter, the Security Council may take measures to maintain or restore international peace and security under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Under the terms of Article 41, sanctions encompass a wide range of coercive measures not involving the use of armed force. The measures most commonly employed are those known as "sanctions", generally backed by a committee, group of experts or other mechanism responsible for follow up their application.

Law n°05-01 of 27 Dhou El Hidja 1425 corresponding to February 6, 2005, amended and supplemented by law n°23-01 of February 7, 2023, on preventing and combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
