Mr. Attaf holds talks with several of his counterparts
The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held talks on Friday in Johannesburg with several counterparts from countries attending the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
Ahmed Attaf met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan; the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Espen Barth Eide; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Cho Tae-yul; and Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Takeshi Iwaya.
Attaf discussed with his Chinese counterpart ways to achieve further positive results through enhanced economic partnership and cooperation, ongoing consultations, and mutual support within the United Nations (UN) Security Council and other international fora.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister and his Turkish counterpart focused on the pillars of privileged cooperation between the two countries, in anticipation of the 3rd session of the Joint Planning Commission. They also discussed developments in the Middle East, particularly the Palestinian issue.
During his meeting with India’s counterpart, the two Foreign Ministers commended the positive momentum in bilateral ties in recent years. On this occasion, they explored ways to capitalize on the upcoming meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee to strengthen bilateral relations, leveraging the countries’ respective potentials.
Algeria’s top diplomat and his Norwegian counterpart held consultations on ways to maintain the momentum of economic cooperation and international efforts toward a two-state solution as a fair and lasting settlement to the Palestinian issue.
In his talks with his South Korean counterpart, discussions centered on the exceptional results of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and technological fields. The two Foreign Ministers also emphasized the need to continue consultations within the UN Security Council under the Elected Members Group (E10).
Finally, Ahmed Attaf discussed with his Japanese counterpart ways to leverage both countries’ potential to enhance Algeria-Japan relations, particularly following the activation of the Joint Bilateral Economic Committee.
