Mr. Magramane received UNHCR's Assistant High Commissioner for Protection

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Lounes Magramane, received UNHCR's Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, who is on an official visit to Algeria from November 11 to 14.
The UNHCR official hailed Algeria’s continuous efforts over more than 50 years to provide the Sahrawi refugees with adequate living conditions, praising the humanitarian and solidarity dimension that characterizes Algeria’s commitment.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss ways to foster bilateral cooperation and coordination between Algeria and the UNHCR in a spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility, with a view to better addressing the concerns and aspirations of refugees, particularly through support for humanitarian programs targeting Sahrawi refugees.
The two parties also emphasized the importance of continuing and strengthening efforts to mobilize international contributions to support refugees, given the current political and humanitarian context.
