Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - France(03)-06.03.2025

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lounès Magramane, received on Thursday at the ministry headquarters the French Ambassador to Algeria, Stéphane Romatet.
The purpose of this meeting was to call the French diplomat's attention to the gravity of the French-Moroccan military maneuvers project, 'CHERGUI 2025'—a highly suggestive name— set to take place in Er-Rachidia next September, close to the Algerian border.
The Secretary General said to his interlocutor that this exercise is perceived by the Algerian side as a provocative act against Algeria.
He added that such an act would inevitably intensify the crisis currently marking Algerian-French relations and elevate tensions between the two countries to a more serious level.
While asking the French Ambassador to obtain the necessary clarifications on this subject, the Secretary General invited him to convey, to his hierarchy, Algeria's stance as it was expressed to him.
